Critical Mass Galway is 2 years old! To celebrate, we will host a community cycle on Saturday, May 26th. Leading up to the event, we will post daily themed bicycle photos…today’s theme = Critical Mass Junior. Details about the cycle are below….after that, make sure to enjoy the photos (below, below).
Note: Children of all ages are more than welcome on any of the CMG cycles :)
Meet at NUIG, University Rd. entrance across from Ward’s Corner Shop at 12 Noon. The cycle takes approximately 1 hour (depending on traffic!) and everyone is welcome. Come as you are or in fancy dress. Bring a noisemaker!!
Since May 2010, Critical Mass Galway has hosted a community cycle almost every month, with people of various ages and abilities cycling en masse in the streets to highlight the presence of cyclists for both pedestrians and motor vehiclists.
Our visual presence is a monthly reminder to the City of Galway that:
A. Bikes and autos must share the road.
B. City Council needs to work more diligently on practical & innovative solutions to long-standing road issues, not just token gestures.
C. Bicycles are part of Galway’s infrastructure and city planning needs to do a better job at integrating all modes of transport not just the automobile.
D. Bicycles are a fun, efficient and practical way of getting around the city.
