Halloween Night Cycle 2011!

Okay cyclists, it’s time to get your best Haloween costumes ready!! The 2nd annual CMG night cycle will be held on Sunday October 3oth at 7:00 pm. We will cycle through the city streets of Galway, lit up, dressed up and making lots of noise!

Everyone, families and children included, are welcome to attend the event. The cycle will start at NUIG (University Road, across from Ward’s corner store) and will end at the Spanish Arch where prizes for Best Dressed Bicycle, Best Dressed Cyclist and Best Lit Bicycle/Outfit will be given.

Please tell your friends and invite as many people as possible!

The Octobert 1st cycle took place on another beautiful fall day. T’was a very active day in Galway as several Critical Mass cyclists tooks to the streets, many others travelled by foot along the prom as participants in the Galway Bay Half Marathon. All in all, it was a perfect day to be out enjoying the fresh and crisp fall weather.

A big thanks to McCambridges for supply the amazingly large and delicious chocolate bar prizes! Also, to Simon Comer and Simon O’Sullivan for sharing their great photographes with us. Finally, thanks to everyone that participated in this cycle. We’re looking forward to seeing you all at the Halloween night cycle! Stay tuned for more details. In the meantime, you’d better start thinking about your Halloween costumes

Hello fellow and future Critical Mass-ers!

It’s been a couple of months since our last cycle, we hope you are all well!

The next Critical Mass Cycle is being held this Saturday, October 1st! We meet at 12:00 noon at the NUIG entrance on University Road, across from Ward’s Corner Store. It should be a beautiful fall day – we hope to see you all this Saturday! Prizes to those who bring out the most 1st time Critical Mass participants!

National Bike Week Opening Event in Galway’s Eyre Square

National Bike Week 2011 opens with a huge day of biking fun in the heart of Galway City.

The Bike Week opener features live BMX stunt displays from Ramprage, a bicycle parade through Galway City, facepainters, balloon modellers, live music and a bike village featuring a number of Galway’s bike shops.

Come along, bring your bike, and enjoy a great day out in the sun!

Photos from the one year anniversary May 7th cycle!

We had a great turn out for our one year anniversary cycle! 50 -60 cyclists participated in this event including one tall bike, two tandem bikes, one recumbent bike, a sound system on wheels and one cycling xylophonist!!

Before the cycle, CMG t-shirts were made via spray paint and stencils, and bicycle flags were tied to bikes! Check out the results in the photos below. The cycle ended, as usual, at the Spanish Arch but this time the cyclists were provided with celebratory refreshments by the CMG “lemonade stand”.

A big thanks to the Galway Cycling Campaign and Tribes on Bikes for providing us with the t-shirts! Also, thanks to McCambridges for providing the chocolate bar prizes and to Maria and Darren for being the bestest juice stand tenders ever. Finally, thanks to you all for turning out. See you next month

May 7th cycle – CMG’s one year anniversary!

Bike tags for the May 7th cycle are now available for download here: bike tags-May 7th . Feel free to hand out to friends or tags some bikes in town

Don’t forget to arrive early if you want to make your own CMG shirt or secure a CMG banner to your bicycle. Everything will be provided at the meeting point. See the previous blog post for details, and see you on May 7th!

May 7th Cycle – CMG’s ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY!

Please join us in celebration of cycling and CMG’s one year anniversary on Saturay May 7th! Meet us at the NUIG entrance on University Road (across from Ward’s Corner Store) at 12:00 noon. We will be making CMG t-shirts and bicycle banners before the cycle, come early if you want to make your own t-shirt.

Dress up, wear a costume, or decorate your bikes – there will be lots of prizes to celebrate our stylish and colourful participants!
